HIIN: Expanding the Definition of Adverse Drug Events
Location: Connecticut Hospital Association, 110 Barnes Road, Wallingford, CT 06492
There is no fee for this event.
The morning will focus on adverse drug events in all venues; the afternoon will focus on opioids. With the opioid crisis affecting more and more people, we will be holding a special session in the afternoon where we will be training participants in the use of naloxone. We will also outline how Good Samaritan laws operate in Connecticut.
The program will not meet the training or certification requirements that specifically allow pharmacists to independently prescribe naloxone or to dispense naloxone pursuant to a pharmacy’s “standing order” from a prescribing practitioner. The program will provide an overview of how those certifications can be obtained.
This program is being offered under the Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN), a CMS national initiative aimed at advancing patient and family engagement and reducing events of preventable patient harm.
